Positive Discipline for Parents

Positive Discipline Workshop for Parents with Patrick Akrivos, Psychotherapist

Positive Discipline program was developed by Dr Jane Nelsen, based on the work of Alfred Adler and Rudolf Dreikurs. It is designed to teach important social and life skills in a manner that is deeply respectful and encouraging.

As a certified Trainer myself I will guide you through a process of developing mutually respectful relationships. Parents will learn to employ kindness and firmness at the same time, in a way that is neither punitive nor permissive.

Contact me to book a “get to know each other” appointment in order to discuss the benefits of the Positive Discipline Workshop for Parents.

Positive Discipline Workshop for Parents:  Discipline through respect and encouragement!

When you successfully complete the Positive Discipline Workshop for Parents along with certified trainer Patrick Akrivos you will learn the use of important tools an concepts such as:

  • Mutual respect. Adults model firmness by respecting themselves and the needs of the situation, and kindness by respecting the needs of the child.
  • Identifying the belief behind the behavior. Effective discipline recognizes the reasons kids do what they do and works to change those beliefs, rather than merely attempting to change behavior.
  • Effective communication and problem solving skills.
  • Discipline that teaches (and is neither permissive nor punitive).
  • Focusing on solutions instead of punishment.
  • Encouragement (instead of praise). Encouragement notices effort and improvement, not just success, and builds long-term self-esteem and empowerment.
